Doors & Windows
Made to order, so quotation is configuration and every measurement matters.
Doors and windows break the assumption underneath most building materials software: that you sell what you stock. Here, nothing is stocked in the configuration the customer buys. Each unit is made for one opening, and the entire commercial process is shaped by that.
What makes this segment hard
Quotation is configuration. Price depends on dimensions, material, glazing, hardware, finish and opening type — and the choices interact, so it cannot be a lookup table. A configurator that gets this wrong either quotes low and destroys margin, or quotes high and loses the job.
Site measurement has to reach production intact. Measurements taken at site, often on paper, must arrive in manufacturing without transcription error. A single wrong dimension produces a unit that cannot be installed, and the cost lands on you.
Lead times make order status a service function. Weeks between order and delivery means customers ask where their order is, repeatedly. Without visible status, that traffic lands on your sales team and consumes the time they should spend selling.
Revisions are constant. Openings change during construction. A quotation is rarely accepted in its first version, and version control on quotes is a real requirement rather than a refinement.
What we build for it
- Product configurators that price accurately across interacting options.
- Site measurement capture on mobile, working offline, feeding straight into the order.
- Quotation versioning and revision history.
- Order status visible to the customer and the dealer, without a phone call.
- Production handover with the specification attached, not re-typed.
- Dealer, architect and project sales tracking through Sales360.
Where implementations usually fail
The configurator is built from the price list rather than from how the factory actually costs a unit, and the two diverge within a season.
Or measurement capture is designed for an office and handed to someone standing on a half-built site with no signal and one hand free. It gets used twice.
