Cement and dry mix operate on economics unlike the rest of building materials. Margins are thin, volumes are large, freight is a serious share of landed cost, and the product itself is close to a commodity. What differentiates you is availability, credit and scheme — which means those are the system.

What makes this segment hard

Freight is a commercial decision. Which plant serves which territory, and by what route, changes the margin on every order. Treating dispatch as a logistics afterthought rather than a pricing input leaves money on the table on a scale that matters at these volumes.

Schemes are the sales mechanism. Volume slabs, seasonal offers, dealer incentives and retailer schemes drive purchasing behaviour more than product does. Calculating them correctly, settling claims on time and tracking their real cost is not a module — it is the core of the system, and it is where most implementations are weakest.

Credit exposure is constant. The channel runs on credit, limits are exceeded routinely, and the decision to release an order against an overdue account is made daily by someone who needs the current position, not last week’s.

Bagged and bulk behave differently. Different handling, different customers, different pricing and different despatch. Systems that model them identically produce reporting nobody trusts.

What we build for it

  • Scheme definition, automatic calculation, claim submission and settlement tracking.
  • Dealer credit limits and live exposure, visible at the point the order is released.
  • Territory, plant allocation and freight-aware order routing.
  • Secondary sales capture, so you can see beyond your own dispatch.
  • Field force management and retailer visit tracking through Sales360.
  • WhatsApp notifications for despatch, credit and scheme updates, which is how this channel actually reads messages.

Where implementations usually fail

Scheme logic is built from the current scheme, and the next quarter’s scheme has a structure the system cannot express. We build scheme definition as configuration, because in this segment the scheme always changes.

The other one is a dealer app nobody opens. At this end of the market, a WhatsApp message gets read and an app does not. It is worth designing around that rather than fighting it.
